Here are some of the Projects we have carried out in various communities.
Bag gardens became a beacon of hope in Kampala. In areas where poverty and food insecurity are prevalent, youth volunteers have used these gardens to provide multiple benefits, addressing both immediate needs and long-term goals in the community. They provide realistic learning environments, promoting agricultural skills, nutrition education, and environmental awareness. Moreover, they enhance food security, as the harvested produce often supplements school meals and reaches the wider community, improving overall nutrition.
After years of lack of access to safe drinking water, Youth Volunteers embarked on the journey to providing safe drinking water for the school community through awareness creation and installation of the water purifying system to provide safe drinking water for learners at St Raphael's College. "The drinking water issue is now solved, its time to enjoy school without any worry" one of the students mentioned. Flex electricials and water solutions provided the technical support and guidance to the youth volunteers during the installation of the system and throughout the entire project. Through the donations we received, the efforts from youth volunteers to expressed acts of kindness through this project were fulfilled. We further plan on installing water purifying systems in all our partner schools and more schools that can't afford to provide safe drinking water to learners in school. We therefore ask you to continue supporting this project through making a one time or monthly donation through our donation link..
Access to toilets remain a big challenge in katwe, a slum in kampala possing a big health challenge in the community Being a slum, Katwe has few toilets and many residents, leading to poor sanitation and unhygienic practices like open defecation. The lack of toilets and poor waste management practices in Katwe have contaminated the wetland ecosystem and water sources. The Poor sanitation and hygiene in Uganda put children at risk of death and sickness. Diarrhoea, one of the leading causes of death in Ugandan children, kills 33 children every day. Poor sanitation can lead to the spread of deadly diseases like cholera, dysentery, typhoid, intestinal worm infections, and polio. Impact on education As an area of interest by Youth Volunteer Corps Kampala, a project to renovate a toilet to be used in a community has been embarked on creating awareness about the existence on this big problem, show the need for joint efforts in addressing this challenge.
